The 2nd coming of King Kev!

Big news today for my beloved Newcastle Utd, the return of Kevin Keegan as the clubs manager!
Keegan is without doubt the most successful Newcastle manager in recent times, nearly taking us to the title…

For me, this is a dream scenario, no doubt there will be a few moaners, but I reckon the football romantics and neutrals all over the country will love it!

How Many at a Home Game?

I was just reading on bbc.co.uk about Mike Ashley’s proposed take over of Newcastle Utd, He has bought Freddie Shepherds shares, taking himself to 70+% ownership of the club. However that isn’t what grabbed my attention, as you may or may not know, St James’ Park (newcastles home ground) has a capacity of little of 52000 people.

However, according to the bbc, it’s over 60000.

Alan Shearer Tribute

I originally posted this back in October, but I doubt anyone would have seen it.  I think it deserves to be seen now that my hits are picking up…

For anyone who doesn’t know, Alan Shearer is probably the most influential English football player of all time (forget your beckhams etc.) this man broke every record in the Premiership. This video is (as the title suggests) a tribute to Shearer, it’s made up of some of his greatest goals for Newcastle Utd.

My one regret for him is that after he took the chance to sign for his hometown club ahead of Manchester Utd, the club, as big as it is, didn’t manage to win a trophy in his time there.  Now retired, we have to do with just seeing him commentate on our games instead of playing in them now

Finally, a New Signing in Toon

After a long and frustrating transfer window, Newcastle Utd made their first and only signing…

They signed Oguchi Oneywu on loan from Belgian team Standard Liege.  He is a 6′4″ American central defender who should inject some much needed strength and size to the Newcastle back four.

Woo Hoo – Bramble Out

It finally looks like the Newcastle Utd Management have grown some common sense…
After years and years of “he’ll be a star” and “he has everything it takes to be class” they have finally realised that Titus Bramble just inst good enough. He doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together. If Someone was paying me £30k a week I would know what my job was, unlike Bramble who runs around looking clueless all game, then when he does something, it usually cost Newcastle the game.

Football Manager 2007 – PC game

Got this yesterday, I am a massive fan of last seasons version and indeed all the other versions. I’ve spent many hours trying to win the Champions League with Newcastle Utd As it turns happens, it’s no easier in the fictional world of FM than it is in real life
Anyway about the game, It has (according to the press release) hundreds of new features (most of which you might never come across). The team talks are more in depth, the scouting system has changed and player interaction has increased, to name a few.

The game is as good as ever, and in a lot of ways much much better. My main criticism is that Newcastle have a stupidly low transfer budget, so if you want to be them, you’re basically writing off the first season as you have no money to do anything. Of course you have Chelsea’s mega millions if you just want a laugh.

I would say go get this game asap, it’s by far the best football management sim around!

Newcastle Utd vs Man Yoooo

Newcastle vs Man Yoooooo – 3pm Kickoff – Old Trafford.

Lets see if we can improve our dismal record at Old Trafford, or if we’re lucky, fancy another 5-0??? Well thats not likely but I could see us getting a result here. I reckon Ferdinand will be terrified by the prospect of “Oba” Martins running at (and indeed past) him. HOWAY THE LADS!!!!!
